What savings account? [lloyds tsb] [premium rate]

Hello,
I have had a brief look at what savings options there are. I have an ING direct account with a 4.75 % return, I like the easy access and withdraw infrequently but need access to money quickly when I do. I have about £3000 to save (ok its not alot!). I like the idea of the Lloyds Tsb 8% monthly saver but you have to operate it by branch/phone (premium rate number!)
I need an account that you can operate on-line responds quickly when contacted, no penalties , and has a good rate (dont we all!).
Can anyone suggest a good account for this?
Many thanks

You can operate it online – I do.

Reply:I've looked at the site, where does it say this/

Reply:According to www.bankingcode.org.uk, ICICI has not yet signed up to the banking code. The current status is "application pending".

Reply:I operate mine online.
If you want easy access and an OK rate I'd recommend Icesave or a Halifax web saver.

Reply:You dont mention if you have used your ISA allowance of £3000, there are plenty of instant access accounts available and as it is tax free you will get a better return.

Reply:I think, ICICI Hisave might be a good option for you.
It is paying 5.65% at the moment and it has a price promise that it will keep the rate above BOE rate.
People had problems initially with it as ICICI could not cope with the huge number of applications but now it is functioning well, at least for me.
It is an online account, no penalities for withdrawl, but it might take 3-5 working days for the money to be transfered to or from your linked account.
Icelandic savings account is also an alternative with a very good rate, but I have no personal experience with that.
BVoth these banks comple with the UK banking code

Best Answer:PayPal is going to want you to open a checking account so they can make electronic transfers in a and out of it. Find a bank that allows you to have a personnel checking account with a very small balance at no fee. Never order checks for it. Be prepared for PP to cause an overdraft.
